Progress report

1. What concrete progress have you made on your capstone project since you submitted your proposal and timeline? Include specific examples; if possible post some examples to your blog.

   I have since changed my project twice from the initial idea. I went from the narrative, back to my  original idea of creating a video streaming website, but started to think about how it relates to what i’ve learned in my academic career. My final decision is to make an abstract piece in after effects that involve particles and surreal music. The setting is outer space with planets, nebula and galaxies.
    

2.  How many times have you been in contact with your mentor? Please list what you discussed.

   I’ve been in constant contact with my mentor about my ideas which is what has geared me to change it so much.  We both feel that a more focused project is appropriate for my skill set. The narrative film’s scope was too large for the time I have and the website idea does not reflect the creative aspect of my major (since most of the work was more of a computer science type project)
    

3. How has your timeline changed thus far? Discuss what has changed and why you changed it.

   With my new project I will be working non-stop from any computer that has After effects. My main concern with both previous ideas was available time to work. the narrative more than anything had major constraints in time in terms of actor availability, location availability and equipment availability. I have started on my project and will be working with it every day during winter break.
    

4. What do you still need to complete in preparation for the beginning of your N499 course? Identify key aspects of the project that need to be taken care of before your official capstone start

   I need to redo the description for my capstone since it has drastically changed. I’ve already registered for the 499 class with my proff and I’ve ran the idea by him. This project seems to be the best fit since I’m most comfortable with after effects and there’s no huge hurdles I’ll have to pass to accomplish this.
    

5. If there have been significant changes to your project since your proposal, please discuss them

   The change was significant enough that it would be considered a completely new project. One change I may have to make is the direction in which I take this. Musically and visually. Once I narrow down the over all feel of this piece, I’ll be able to solidity it in to a presentable video.
